ABOUT The Attorney

George W. Murgatroyd III

Attorney & Counselor at Law

I was admitted to the California Bar in December 1983, Washington D.C. four years later and recently Maryland. I practiced for more than 30 years in complex litigation, primarily tort and product liability, including aviation, transportation, pharmaceutical, mass fatality and class action matters. I became a partner in 1985 at Kananack, Murgatroyd & Baum (now Wisner Baum) and handled extensive nationwide discovery and hundreds of depositions, frequently appearing pro hac vice in federal district courts. I later served as Of Counsel at Baum Hedlund handling class actions and pharmaceutical litigation, including matters involving SSRIs' lack of safety  and efficacy with a focus on the antidepressants Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil. I currently have a personal interest in making the Journal of American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Elsevier, Inc., its publisher, retract or at least warn about the fraudulent medical journal article -Efficacy of Paroxetine in the Treatment of Adolescent Major Depression: A Randomized, Controlled Trial; Keller, et al; Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Vol. 40, No. 7, pp. 762-772 (July 2001) - that contributed to suicide attempts and deaths of adolescents taking Paxil.  Beginning in 2009, while continuing  with tort litigation, I branched out to business and corporate law serving as general/principal legal counsel for multiple businesses handling corporate formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, contracts, employment, joint ventures and dispute resolution. I am currently counsel for the Finnish company VIBAe Oy, a position I have held since 2020.
